This was the very first video that us as a group watched we gained our very first main idea from this video itself. We was very interested by the story behind this of following a normal boys day to day life of just simply getting from A to B following the ups and downs he comes across and which occurs. There were also many shots that we really liked that we would like to apply to ours, such as the one at the start where the focus is on the bed and the alarm clock, the idea of it being and high angled shot shows that it is looking down on the little boy maybe giving the idea of everyone looking down on him. Also the tracking shot of the boy on his bike I think works really well as it creates the illusion of the audience following him on to his journey we especially would like to apply this particular shot into our own video. The point of view shot is a good shot to take ideas from as this shot is allowing the audience to put themselves into the characters shoes. The point of view shot in this video is used when he opens the fridge showing the usual routine that this character has, another point of view shot that is used is when the girls are waving at the focal character this allows to show how the boy thinks its not for him for such reasons as if he isn't good enough. The close up is used a lot throughout this video this would be to highlight the feeling and emotions of the character throughout. Overall there are many shots and angles in this video that have helped portray and outline the story itself, which has helped us come up with a story line along the ideas of the video.
This is the second video that I looked at to fit into my research on recent and similar music videos. From this video we looked at the idea of it being something simple like a video blog of a day to day life. At the start of this video the are many shots used such as an point of view, tracking, over the shoulder and such angles as high and low. These have been used to show the general travelling and normal life and a means of transport that someone has then we see a point of view shot that is a crash between a cyclist and a lorry, we liked this idea of showing someone journey and day to day life and how quickly something can home that could massively effect and destroy your lives routines. In the very middle of this video this is a shot of someone holding a camera then it switches to that camera showing the perspective of them, this idea would be different way of showing the idea that we would want to portray.Throughout this it has a progression of showing someone life being destroyed to them getting them selves back up and trying their best to get back to how they were. I think that this kind of story line would be effect if correct camera shots and use of editing was substitutional and made clear of what we were trying to portray. This video has no relation to the song itself what so ever but they have made it work just by making it unique with the idea of a blog and just people in the video actually videoing it themselves. Overall this research of this particular video gave us the idea of showing how a normal life can just change in a blink of an eye.
This was the third video that we looked at, this video shows a young boy being shouted at portraying how rubbish his life is, but after this he goes outside and meets people and starts to show his happiness of being away. This is portrayed throughout by a number of close up shots of the young boys face which allows the audience to understand the feelings and emotions of the character. In the chorus the lyrics 'I covering my ears like a kid' there is a mid one person shot of the young kid covering there ears this would show a clear relation between the lyrics and the video which would display the idea of the video having a story and meaning behind it. There is a slow zoom shot of someone performing a dance routine in the middle of a busy road, we took an idea from this for our own video of having dancers following the main character around to create the illusion of confusion. There is also a landscape shot with no one in it displaying the idea of loneliness then the next shot you see is an over the shoulder shot of the young boy being comforted again created the idea that he was deserted but now he has found someone that cares/ Overall we have taken many ideas from this video that we think we can put in to our own such as the idea of being lonely then finding something to work and live for and also the idea of incorporating dancers in to our music video.
