Research: Chosen Genre

Our inital idea was to base our piece within the dance genre. Being that this genre contains different forms of dance music, further consideration was needed. For this we researched various videos within this genre such as; Rudimental- Waiting All Night and Naugty Boy- LaLaLa and acknowleged different conventions. After consideration as a group we decdided that dance remixes would be an interesting choice for our task. This being that we could as induviduals contribute different aspects and skills. Also, this genre allows us to experiement and go outside the norms in terms of an genreic music video. We identified that most dance music videos use juxtaposition, accompanied with asynchronus music that doesn't always suit the narrative, futhermore this now allows us to widen a variety within our narrative. Dance music has become more and more popular over the years. Sinces the late 80's dance music and remixes have progressed in terms of popularity. Ministry of Sound, DJS and other producers release remixes of popular songs and music compilation CD's that are very popular amongst young people and club goers. The song we have chosen fits under this category of music, therefore we believe that it is a popular choice
