Research: Similar Products (CD Cover)

I have looked at this album cover as it is the song that we have chosen to do. Throughout the genre of Dance pop I have noticed that bright colours are a common factor that occurs, which is clearly shown through the theme of this album cover. There is a sustained font that is carried on all over this album cover. The font is bold and very colourful therefore it would be eyecatching to the audience and would attract thier attention if they saw it on a shop self. The DJ/Singers name is the most highlighted on this album cover which would attract the particular fans of the DJ, also by it standing out from the rest it allows the audience to instantly see whos album it is. The back ground is just a plain simple colour but I think that this works as it draws your attention to the important information that is on the front. The 'Feat. A.M.E' is highlighted with a black background strip behind it, this would be used to show the audience that someone else is feature in this album which would attract the audience attention to it. By using white writing to accompany it makes the information stand out alot more. Overall by looking at this I have been able to annalyse and look at the typical conventions of an album cover and it has helped me decide on a house style to carry throughout.

This is the second album cover that I looked at, it is quite similar to the one above as it has consisted of a simple house style. I think the focal photo in the center is the focal point of this whole album cover, the idea of it being a drawing or a painting works really well which gives it a vintage effect. The font used along the very top as kept within the house style of the vintage look as the font is very old fashioned it works and makes it stand out. The colour scheme has been kept very plain and dark which doesn't particulary attract me to it straight away. The back ground having a gradient look I think again adds to the vintage look as it makes it look old fashioned to fit in with the house style. The gradual fade from the different oranges I think makes the album cover stand out. The image is definatly the highlight of this album cover. Overall this cover has given me many ideas, such as using an image or photograph to support the house style and again also to keep it simple so its easy on the eyes of the audience.

This is the last album cover that I looked at, through looking at the other two this was my favourite. The house style of this album cover fits in with the genre of dance as it all being in black and white makes the colours stand out. By having the artist as the main focus this would attract the specfic audience of being the fans of his music. Then in the top right hand side is the aritists name in a white font which then stands out, this would attract the audience as it is big and bold so the audience would be attracted to it. Then underneath is the album name, this is in a completly different font to everything else, which again makes it seperate and makes it not get lost within the other information, I think this works well as it then clearly outlines the albums name. Alos by having the first word in a bright bold colour it makes it stand out from the back ground and also the colour would make it extremely eye catching to the audience. Overall this in my opinion works the best out of all the albums I have looked at as it has a clear house style and a clear style guide that is carried throughout. This will help me with my album cover as it has highlighted the important factors that I would need to consider and undertake while creating mine.
